UCONN is not a member of the ECAC, which makes coordinating with the school more difficult. UCONN belongs to the Atlantic Hockey league, meaning RPI only plays them in non-league games and playoffs.
In 2013, the band did not actually know if they would be allowed to travel to the school until two days before the trip. The home team's Pep Band was not going to be at the game, meaning a visitor's Pep Band could not attend a game. The band managed to work things out with the rink and went, despite this rule.
